CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES
Each county in Pennsylvania has an agency dedicated to enforcing the Child Protective Services Law, such as a Children and Youth Agency (commonly referred to as CYS) or Child Protective Services Agency (commonly referred to as CPS). A CYS or CPS investigation begins when an individual reports suspected child abuse. The agency will begin investigating the allegations. Law enforcement may conduct their own parallel investigation, which could lead to criminal charges. Statements made in the CYS/CPS investigation can be used against you if criminal charges are filed. You will want to speak to an attorney to explain the impact a CYS/CPS case could have on you and your family.
